We read How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? by Margaret McNamara.  We learned that the size of the pumpkin has nothing to do with the amount of seeds in a pumpkin.  The longer a pumpkin stays on the vine, the more lines it gets on the outside.  Each line represents one row of seeds inside of the pumpkin.  We looked at our pumpkin and found it to be medium sized and it had ten lines on the outside.  We all estimated how many seeds will be in our classroom pumpkin when we cut it open.  We cannot wait to see who was the closest!
