Welcome to Little Knights Preschool

 at St. Joseph Catholic School!

Called to Discipleship: Be Christ’s Light

I am excited to be a part of the St. Joseph Catholic School community as the new full day preschool teacher working with four year olds. I look forward to being a part of such a positive and caring academic community where body, mind and spirit are nurtured and developed.

Although I earned my education degree in Ohio, I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for the last 15 years. I love teaching preschool children and seeing the world through their eyes. I believe a warm and loving environment both encourages children to learn as well as helps them gain self-confidence. I am a strong believer in learning through play as well as hands on learning to help foster a child’s creativity and development. I look forward to a positive, loving, and wonderful year with your child!

We continued learning about birds.  We watched a slow motion video showing how a robin makes a nest.  The boys and girls did a great job making a robin nest.
Mrs Hoglund took us across the hall the the big kid science room.  The boys and girls saw that some of the chicks have hatched.  We can’t wait to see them next week!
Media with Mrs Hoglund.  The boys and girls heard a Bernstein Bears book, checked out books and listened to a story on the I Pads.
We did a very difficult count the room.  The cards had pictures with objects 11-20.  The boys and girls had to take their time and count the object and write the number on their sheet.  We were amazed by how well they did!
We began learning about birds today.  The boys and girls learned different parts of a bird.  We also watched a video about different types of birds.  The boys and girls painted their own cute brightly colored birds.  They did a great job cutting out the bird pattern and piecing it all together.
We walked around the area by  our school.  The boys and girls had to check off the items on the scavenger list they found.  We found almost everything!  Great job Detectives!
We had our Scholastic Magazine which was all about Earth Day and how to be an Earth Day Detective.  The boys and girls got ready for an outdoor scavenger hunt.
We continued our Earth Day celebration.  The boys and girls brainstormed ways they can help the Earth.
