Religion:  God Made Surprises:  God Made Little Things: The children will state that God the Father made small things.  The children will express an understanding that small things are important.  The children will praise and thank God for small things. **We will be attending Mass with our Prayer Buddies on Tuesday**

Language/Literacy:  Heggerty Lesson Overview Weeks 28-35:Week 29.  Students will produce words that rhyme.  Students will isolate the initial sound in spoken words.  Students will learn to blend three phonemes into a spoken word.  Students will continue to practice phoneme isolation with final and medial(vowel) phonemes in spoken words.  Students will learn to segment a spoken word into three phonemes.  Students will manipulate the initial phoneme in a spoken work with adding, deleting, and substituting. Focus letter of the week Vv.  Bring a V item from home.  

Math: Addition stories to 5, location words, geometric shapes, addition and take-away stories.  Count and compare, number order.

Science:    We will demonstrate how clouds produce rain.  It will give the children a hands-on visual.  We will estimate how many droplets of water would be needed to make our cloud produce rain.  Then the children will count how many actual drips it will take to get the blue water down through their clouds.Vocabulary:  condensation, evaporation, precipitation.   

Social Studies:  Scholastic:  My BIG World:  Clifford:  “Rain Today?  That’s OK!”:  Science focus:  rain/spring weather.  Theme vocabulary:  rain, umbrella, squirm, puddle.  Skills We’re Practicing:  group discussion, critical thinking, vocabulary, problem solving, self-management, visual discrimination.

Afternoon Enrichment

Monday:  Our World and Beyond:  G’Day Mate!  Today we will visit Australia.  We will explore the culture and the people who live there.  We will learn about the indigenous animals that live in Australia.  The children will make a koala Bear.

Tuesday: We will continue our  study of letter Vv.  The children will play a letter matching game using upper and lowercase letters.   The children will go on a letter W hunt around the classroom.   Different ways to make a  V with our fingers, hands and legs. 

Wednesday:  We will explore the number 20. The children will differentiate between the number 12 and the number 20.  We will count to 20 forwards and backwards.  The children will use one to one correspondence and count out 20 items.   The children will practice writing the number 20. We will also work on sequencing:  1st, 2nd, 3rd.

Thursday:  “Bushel of Books”:  Ten Dots by:  Donal Crews.  What can you make with 10 dots?  The children will go on a dot hunt and graph their findings.  We will do patterning activities with the dots.    

Friday:  The boys and girls will explore different kinds of winds including: breeze, gust and gale. They will observe how a tornado is formed and we will make a tornado in a bottle.
