Writing
We hope you saved your chart from Monday! Today we are going to use it to write a letter to a future second grader about your favorite memory from 2nd grade. If you wrote in complete sentences on Tuesday, you made your work easier for yourself today.
- Gather your materials - a pencil, your OREREO chart from Monday, and a letter template page. (If you don’t have a printer, you can use your own paper.)
- Watch this mini lesson video that reviews the parts of a letter, how to write your best letter, and possible transition words to use when you write your letter.
- Try the YouTube link if the other one does not work.
- AFTER watching the video, you will hopefully have a good idea of how to take your OREREO chart and use it to write your letter. Be sure to:
- Write in complete sentences with capital letters, periods, and your best spelling.
- Use transition words.
- Include all of your ideas (opinion, reason, example, reason, example, opinion) for a total of 5 sentences. (You can write more if you’d like to do so.).
- Sign your letter at the bottom.
- Write in your best handwriting.
- Optional: Color your letter if you would like to - be sure not to color over your words.
- Upload a picture of your letter to Seesaw.
Religion
Family Time: Prepare for Sunday’s Mass
- Read Sunday’s Gospel together as a family. (You can find all the readings of the day here.) We celebrate the feast of the Ascension of the Lord (when Jesus ascends [goes up] into heaven).
- Discuss these questions with your family:
- How do you think Jesus’ disciples felt when they saw him go up to heaven?
- What does Jesus tell the disciples to do after He is gone?
- What promise does Jesus make to His disciples at the very end of this Gospel passage?
- Check out Heidi Witte’s Children’s Liturgy of the Word YouTube channel.
- The May 24th video should be posted on Saturday, but it might be up by Friday.
- Mrs. Witte was in the same teaching program as Mrs. Macdonald - she posts these videos weekly with songs, readings, and discussions.
- Bonus (Optional) Activity - Complete the Feast of the Ascension coloring page.
