Week at a Glance: April 15-19

Week of April 15 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Show understanding of Ch. 29-37 in A Night Divided with correct answers to the comprehension questions
  • Read Ch. 36-40 and show understanding of the events of those chapters with good class discussion
  • Show ability of identifying figurative language used in Ch. 29-37 of the novel by correctly identifying which type of figurative language a quote from one of the chapters is
  • Make inferences about events in Ch. 33-40 of the novel
  • Make text-to-world connections to events in Ch. 33-40 of the novel by responding to a journal prompt that ties into an event from those chapters
  • Show understanding of the vocabulary words from Ch. 33-40 by correctly answering questions during our Kahoot review game (The vocab. quiz is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23.)

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills
  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A. (due Friday)
  • Begin learning about persuasive writing
  • Identify the opinion, reasons, and supporting evidence in a persuasive piece of writing
  • Successfully deconstruct a persuasive piece of writing using a graphic organizer
  • Show comprehension of Week 27 spelling words

Religion: 

  • Show understanding of Lessons 1 and 2 of Family Life with correct answers on the Unit 1 review
  • Examine messages communicated by the media
  • Learn the importance of honest communication
  • Practice good listening skills
  • Miss Nelson will be teaching scripture during class on Friday and will be discussing the Mass readings for the weekend.
