Week at a Glance: February 26-March 1

Week of February 26 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Successfully make inferences about events that happened in Ch. 9-16 of A Night Divided
  • Show understanding of the content of Ch. 9-16 of A Night Divided with good class discussion about the events of those chapters
  • Show understanding of the vocabulary words from Ch. 9-16 with correct answers on the quiz (scheduled for Wednesday, February 28)
  • Continue learning about and correctly identifying the different types of figurative language used throughout the novel
  • Create a word journal for the vocabulary words from Ch. 17-24

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Complete the weekly grammar spiral review worksheet daily at the beginning of L.A.
  • Show understanding of active and passive voice with correct answers on the assignment that accompanies last week’s lesson
  • Listen actively to verbal messages, observe nonverbal messages, ask relevant questions, and make pertinent comments
  • Use appropriate fluency when reading grade-level text
  • Recognize characters and structure of informational text
  • Respond using newly-acquired vocabulary as appropriate
  • Generate questions about the text before, during, and after reading to deepen understanding and gain information
  • Make and confirm predictions using text features, elements, and structures
  • Make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and society
  • Show comprehension of Week 21 spelling words (words with consonant changes)

Religion: 

  • Show understanding of Unit 2 Session 9 with correct answers on the review guide and quiz (scheduled for Wednesday, February 28)
  • Show understanding of Unit 2 Session 9 with correct answers on the session wrap-up worksheet, focusing on Confirmation
