Week at a Glance: May 1-5

Week of May 1 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Choose a quote from A Night Divided that stood out, draw a picture that relates to the quote, and write an explanation of what the quote means to the student
  • Show understanding of the vocabulary words from Ch. 41-47 of A Night Divided with correct answers on the vocabulary quiz (scheduled for Tuesday, May 2)
  • Complete pre-reading activity for our final book of the year, Tuck Everlasting
  • Create word journal for the vocabulary words from Ch. 1-5 of Tuck Everlasting
  • Show understanding of Prologue-Ch. 3 of Tuck Everlasting with good class discussion about the events of the novel

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Show understanding of DOL skills with correct answers on this month’s quiz (scheduled for Wednesday, May 3)
  • Finish rough draft of opinion/argumentative paper
  • Show comprehension of Week 28 spelling words (Greek words parts)

Religion: 

  • Explore how friendships help us mature in love
  • Understand that sexuality is a gift from God
  • Identify and develop good qualities of a friend
  • Show understanding of concepts taught in Religion class this year with correct answers on the Archdiocese of Chicago Religion assessment, which we have been preparing for over the last couple of weeks (scheduled for Wednesday, May 3)  *NOTE: This assessment will not be entered into PowerSchool as a Religion grade; it is solely a measure of what the students have learned throughout the year.
