Week at a Glance: May 17-21
Week of May 17 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)
Reading:
- Take the iReady spring diagnostic test (5B will take the diagnostic on Monday, May 17, and 5K will take the diagnostic on Tuesday, May 18.)
- Show understanding of vocabulary words from Ch. 6-11 of Tuck Everlasting with correct answers on the vocabulary quiz (*5B will take the quiz on these words on Monday, May 17, and 5K will take the quiz on Tuesday, May 18.)
- Learn new vocabulary words for Ch. 12-18 of the novel
- Complete a handout on figurative language seen in Tuck Everlasting
- Read Ch. 13-16 of Tuck Everlasting and complete context clue word work and word detective for those chapters
Language Arts:
- Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills
- Learn about and show understanding of proper use of commas
- Finish final copy of persuasive paper (*Must be shared with me on Wednesday, May 19, for 5B and on Thursday, May 20, for 5K.)
- Show comprehension of Week 26 spelling words (5B will take the test on Wednesday, May 19; 5K will take it on Thursday, May 20.)
- Learn the Week 27 spelling words
Social Studies:
- Explain how tensions rose between the American colonists and the British following the French and Indian War
- Identify leaders and groups who organized protests
- Explain the events that led to the beginning of the American Revolutionary War
- Identify Patriot and British leaders at the beginning of the revolution and their impact
- Complete the weekly geography packet on Boroughs of New York City
