Week at a Glance: April 26-30

Important Dates:

  • Monday, April 26: Fire Drill at 12:45P.M.
  • Tuesday, April 27: Lockdown Drill at 12:25P.M.

Reading: 

  • Complete a handout on context clues in Ch. 1-5 of Tuck Everlasting
  • Show understanding of the novel so far with correct answers to the comprehension questions from Prologue-Ch. 4 of Tuck Everlasting
  • Introduce Ch. 1-5 mini-project
  • Show understanding of the vocabulary words from Ch. 1-5 of Tuck Everlasting with correct answers on the quiz (5B will take the quiz on Friday, April 30, and 5K will take it on Monday, May 3.)

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Show understanding of modifiers
  • Continue learning about opinion/argumentative writing
  • Learn about leads in opinion/argumentative writing
  • Learn about taking a stance in opinion/argumentative writing
  • Learn the difference between facts and opinions in writing and correctly identify the two
  • Show comprehension of Week 24 spelling words (5B will take the test on Friday, April 30, and 5K will take the test on Monday, May 3.)

Social Studies: 

  • Analyze the causes of the French and Indian War
  • Identify George Washington’s role in the French and Indian War
  • Assess how the conflicts and alliances during the French and Indian War affected the British colonies
  • Describe the role played by American Indians in the French and Indian War and the events that followed
