Week at a Glance: April 5-9

Week of April 5 (*Some objectives are subject to change based on students’ needs.)

Reading: 

  • Show understanding of Hatchet with correct answers on the review guide
  • Show understanding of Hatchet with correct answers on the comprehension test (5B will take the test on Thursday, April 8, and 5K will take the test on Friday, April 9.)

Language Arts: 

  • Continue practicing Daily Oral Language (DOL) skills  
  • Show understanding of comparative and superlative adjectives
  • Continue learning about opinion/argumentative writing
  • Show comprehension of Week 21 spelling words (5B will take the test on Tuesday, April 6, and 5K will take the test on Wednesday, April 7.)

Social Studies: 

  • Compare and contrast the resources and economies of the three colonial regions
  • Explain how protectionism and mercantilism affected the colonies and trade
  • Describe the triangular trade and provide examples of items imported and exported via the trade routes
  • Discuss the roles of people of various classes, women, and children played in colonial America
  • Explain the influence of the Great Awakening
  • Complete the weekly geography packet on Yellowstone National Park: A Cultural Landmark
