Change for Change

Tomorrow in your child's bag, you will find a container to collect donations for Change for Change.  This program is helping the children in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.  Collect your change in the jar and bring it to class each week or when it is full.  Thank you!

Week at a Glance March 6 – March 10, 2017

Religion Objectives: 

Seeds – Jesus prays to his Father. Jesus prays to make good choices. The children will realize that they make many choices every day and identify ways to make good choices.  The children will recognize Jesus made choices. 

God Made Fish.  The children will know that God made the sea creatures, enjoy the story of the large catch of fish and be grateful to God for fish. 

Science Objectives: 

Investigate and describe sources of heat energy.  Make predictions and investigate.  Recognize, observe and discuss the relationship between organisms and their environment. 

What a rainbow shines, what colors do you see? What makes a rainbow? 

Flipping a rainbow. 

Social Studies Objectives: 

Use language to describe roles.  Discuss trust. 

Literacy Objectives: 

Unit 5 – Week 4 – What are desert animals like? Concept words hide, lizard, snake, spider, turtle, and under. Amazing words cowboy, sniff, gobble, herd, toss and burrow.  Listen to this: same sounds, letter sounds, sounds clues, onset and rime and concepts of print. Understanding and using positional words. Beginning sound letter match. Letter Qq week. Locate the letter Gg. 

Math Objectives:

Recognize numerals 0 -9. Create repeating patterns.  Make a rainbow.  Make a shamrock puzzle. Identify, match and circle color words. 

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Narrative writing our own story for the book Noah’s Ark. Number ordering to 20 and making addends for selected number.  Create, extend and recognize patterns (AB, AA/BB, ABC) using colors.  Number formation and writing practice.  IXL math.

We celebrated Reading Across America day with our Prayer Buddies by reading Dr. Seuss books!
The class had a wonderful visit with their Prayer Buddies today. They made Dr. Seuss hats in honor of his birthday.
Preschool watched a Bartholomew and the Oobleck video. Afterwards, Mrs. Krogman guided the students through a fun oobleck experiment where they  predicted if classroom items would sink or float. 
We went to Ash Wednesday mass with our buddies today!  Our preschoolers were fantastic listeners!
We made color word books after enjoying One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. We talked all about the beautiful primary and secondary colors Dr. Seuss uses in his illustrations.
Preschool enjoyed listening to One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss and a yummy treat at snack time!
