Peek At Our Week October 30 – November 3, 2017

Religion Objectives:  

Seeds Lesson – “Jesus has two rules for us!”  The children will identify rules they follow at home at in the classroom. The children will recognize Jesus’ Great Commandment and recognize ways they and others break rules. 

Halloween - The children know that Halloween is related to a celebration of all the saints.  The children will become acquainted with Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and realize that they are to be saints. 

Literacy Objectives: 

OWL - Unit 1 and 2 Review – On Our Way to K! - “How can we be good friends?” “How are families the same and different?” Concept and amazing words review 1 – 48.  Segmenting sentences, concepts of letters, letter naming, make it/break it with compound words, uppercase/lowercase letters, and uppercase/lowercase letters in our names.  Concepts of print. Letter Gg week – recognizing letter Gg in our environment.  We will learn the Alphabet Animal Jive! 

Math Objectives: 

Know objects can be counted, sort objects and describe similarities and difference between groups, adding up to 5, subtracting up to 5 and counting with one-to-one correspondence. Roll and graph pumpkins. Counting to 20 with ghosts.  Sorting and pattern making with Halloween characters.  Sorting pumpkins by size. 

Science Objectives:   

Magic dancing corn experiment. Identify similarities in characteristics of people and common objects using our senses. 

Social Studies Objectives:  

We will discover similarities and differences between self, others and families.

Afternoon Enrichment:

Monday: Germany!  The children will review all the fun facts they have learned about this country.

Tuesday: IXL Math and Storyline Online.

Wednesday: Afternoon Gym and Media CAPE with Mrs. Beyer’s class. 

Thursday: Author study of Doreen Cronin, author of the Click, Clack books.

Friday:  STEAM engineering challenge – Absorption Art!

Mindfulness and Movement provides children with the opportunity to work on balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness through imaginative play, games, and exercises. Children will learn mindfulness skills for emotional regulation and cognitive focus all while developing their fine and gross motor skills. Creative movement activities will include aerobics, balance, dance, stretching, and strengthening. Children will also learn all about healthy nutrition and exercise while we play!
