Mr. Realmuto (Mr. R) holds a bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University. He has over ten years of experience in Special Education working at Barrington School District while leading a science club and has also been a substitute science teacher in the Schaumburg School District. His love for teaching science was answered when a position at SJCS became available. He looks forward to completing his Master's Degree in education next year. Mr. R. has two students currently enrolled at SJCS. He loves writing hilarious children's books and making homemade pizza.

ABOUT OUR SCIENCE PROGRAM

All grades start the program by learning about classroom and lab procedures, lab safety, lab equipment.

 

Grade level programs are as follows:

6th grade - Earth Science

7th grade - Life Science

8th grade - Physical Science

 

Our textbook for all grades is Savvas Realize. Students will have both a physical textbook and online textbook and access to this program.

  • Students will complete their learning on introducing the earth and quiz.

7th grade:

  • Students will learn about fossils, types of fossils, how they are formed and what they can tell us about history of organisms.
  • Students will complete their learning on fossils and quiz.
  • Students will begin learning about the relative age of rocks 

8th grade:

  • Students will learn about water in the air, create a psychrometer, learn about humidity, relative humidity and dew point.  
  • Students will complete their learning on- water in the atmosphere and quiz.
  • Students will begin learning about clouds

***We are actively working in the lab now and some students still do not have safety goggles.  Please see my website for appropriate safety goggles and make sure that your child has a pair to store at school so they are able to participate in labs!
