Mr. John Rebmann

Bio:

Hello middle school families!  My name is John Rebmann, and this is my first year as the middle school math teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School.  For the previous 12 years I was the middle school math teacher (in addition to Religion, Reading and Social Studies) at St. Bede School in Ingleside, IL.  While at St. Bede, I founded and sponsored the “Prayer Society” and led 7th and 8th grade math teams to 1st and 2nd place finishes in the Carmel Catholic High School Middle School Math Contest. I earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University in 2001.  Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Illinois in 2001 and worked in the banking industry for over 10 years.

My wife and I are the parents of seven children, four of whom are attending St. Joseph this year.  I am very excited about this new challenge and look forward to working with the students and St. Joseph community this year and in the years to come!

About our math program:

We offer a very challenging math program at St. Joseph Catholic School.  All of our middle school students complete Glencoe Math's Course 1 (6th grade) and Course 2 (7th grade), and either Course 3 (8th grade) or Algebra 1.

Each day students receive direct instruction, have opportunities to develop understanding in small groups, and work independently to master skills.  Homework will be given most days to help reinforce the skills learned in class.

All of our students leave St. Joseph Catholic School with a solid foundation in mathematics and are ready for the challenges of high school math.
