Week at a Glance: 3/11-3/15/24

Fundations: (phonics): Students will be able to-

  • Spell words with long e syllables (ea, ee, ey)
  • Spell words with oi, oy
  • Spell trick words whose, son, won, breakfast, head, ready
  • Spell trick words favorite, ocean, early
  • Apply their skills on the Unit 11 dictation assessment


Reading and Writing: (Wit and Wisdom) Students will be able to-

  • Identify story elements
  • Compare versions of the legend of Johnny Appleseed
  • Use irregular past tense verbs in context


Math: Students will be able to-

  • subtract across zeros
  •  apply 3-digit subtraction skills to solve problems.
  •  demonstrate mastery of 3-digit subtraction concepts.
  • Apply skills learned on Chapter 7 assessments


Religion: students will-

  • Learn about the story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes.
  • Identify Jesus’ promises to give himself as spiritual food
  • Describe the presentation and preparation of the Gifts
  • Define blessing, sacrifice
  • Explain that the Bread and Wine represent all that we offer to God
 

Science: Students will-

investigate how different plants grow best under very different conditions, ranging from deserts to tropical rainforests. In the activity, Puzzling Plants, students plan and conduct virtual experiments in order to determine how much water and sunlight a set of mystery plants need to grow and stay healthy.
