Religion

Students will:

  • Explain the prayer Jesus taught his disciples
  • Explain how God provides for his creation
  • Recognize that Jesus wants us to trust God our Father with our cares
  • Define petition and praise

Math

Students will:

  • Start chapter 1: addition and subtraction strategies
  • use the Commutative Property and Identity Property to find sum
  • use a number line to count on when adding
  • use doubles and near doubles to find sums
  • make a 10 to solve addition problems

Phonics

Students will:

  • Read and spell words that have am, an, ang, ank, ing, ink, ong, onk, ung, unk (glued sounds)
  • Read and spell words with ar controlled vowels
  • Review trick words, full, pull, shall
  • Practice new trick words - both, talk, walk

Reading

Students will:

  • Identify evidence in the text, How Do You Know It’s Fall?, to answer the question “how do the changes in fall weather impact people and nature?
  • Build understanding of sentence elements by identifying the verbs that correspond with the subject
  • Begin to write an informative paragraph answering the question, “how do the changes in fall weather impact people and nature?
  • Combine their learning about change in fall and informational texts
  • Combine simple sentences into compound sentences about fall using conjunctions
  • Compare the whole message and partial message in conversations
  • Use information from illustrations and text to ask and answer questions about The Little Yellow Leaf
  • Orally retell the story of The Little Yellow Leaf using sentence frames
  • Explain why evidence is important in informative writing
  • Understand shades of meaning and how word choice affects the text

Science

Students will:

  • investigate which kinds of birds are likely to visit a bird feeder based on what they eat.
  • draw their own bird feeder design to attract a specific type of bird
  • build a prototype of their bird feeder using available materials
