Week at a Glance October 11-15

Math: This week we will use problem solving skills to work on addition and subtraction problems with missing addends. We will discover and use fact families to solve and begin working on two step word problems. We will determine which strategies such as drawing a picture, visualizing, and writing number sentences work best for us to understand each problem.

Science: This week, we will use our Mystery Science videos and activities, to identify frog sounds in different environments. Later in the week, we may also explore a mini lesson on who invented pizza.

Language Arts: During Writing, we will work on writing opinion statements, supporting our opinions with reasons, and forming opinion paragraphs.

Reading: We will continue with our daily routines and phonics instruction. During this time we will identify base words and explore the rules for writing plural words and for writing words in the past tense. We will practice our fluency during our daily reading in our decodable Superkids readers. Additionally, we will work on our informational text comprehension strategies during small group instruction with our Super magazine.

Social Studies: No Social Studies - see Science
