Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will continue their lesson on Fossil Fuels and Renewable vs. Nonrenewable resources. In this lesson, we will be discussing alternative energy sources, and the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels.

Seventh Grade Science: This week, Seventh grade students will continue their lesson on Mitosis. We will learn about the discovery of Cellular Division and how this discovery revolutionized the scientific community’s understanding of cells and life.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will finish presenting their In My Element project by Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will begin our unit on Energy Resources. We will begin with the Chapter on Fossil Fuels. In this chapter, students will learn about the three major fossil fuels and how they formed in the Earth. We will also learn the difference between renewable vs nonrefundable energy.

For this project, students will be able to research and choose an element of their choice. They will be required to create a Google Slides presentation and present it to the class. I will post a Rubric for what will be expected of them.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will have a test make up on the Rocks and Weathering unit. On Tuesday, we will begin our unit on the Periodic Table. Students will explore the Periodic Table and learn how the table is a tool for organizing elements. We will learn how elements are arranged by atomic number and grouped by similar properties. Students will be able to add onto their knowledge of the Periodic Table in 7th grade, when we begin to learn about Atomic Structures.

Eighth Grade Science: This week, Eighth grade students will learn about Covalent Bonding. In this lesson, we will learn how atoms share electrons in order to bond. In the previous lesson, we learned how atoms give off an electron to form an ionic bond. Students will learn how to distinguish between a single bond, double bond and triple bond.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will learn about Soil Conservation.  In this lesson, students will be able to identify and evaluate methods of conserving soil and the way soil can lose its value by human and organism interaction. We will learn about Crop Rotation, Contour Plowing and Conservation Plowing. We will also have a lab on the Soil Layers.

Sixth Grade Science: Sixth Grade Students will continue the chapter on Weathering and Erosion. Last week, we learned how pollution can increase Acid Rain, which is a factor in Chemical Weathering. This week, we will learn about the Science of Water Sustainability. Students will examine how pollution bonds with water molecules to create water that is not suitable to consume.
