Home

Mr. Realmuto (Mr. R) holds a bachelor's degree from Robert Morris University. He has over ten years of experience in Special Education working at Barrington School District while leading a science club and has also been a substitute science teacher in the Schaumburg School District. His love for teaching science was answered when a position at SJCS became available. He looks forward to completing his Master's Degree in education next year. Mr. R. has two students currently enrolled at SJCS. He loves writing hilarious children's books and making homemade pizza.

ABOUT OUR SCIENCE PROGRAM

All grades start the program by learning about classroom and lab procedures, lab safety, lab equipment.

 

Grade level programs are as follows:

7th grade - Life Science

8th grade - Physical Science

 

Our textbook for all grades is Savvas Realize. Students will have both a physical textbook and online textbook and access to this program.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will finish presenting their In My Element project by Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will begin our unit on Energy Resources. We will begin with the Chapter on Fossil Fuels. In this chapter, students will learn about the three major fossil fuels and how they formed in the Earth. We will also learn the difference between renewable vs nonrefundable energy.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will have a test make up on the Rocks and Weathering unit. On Tuesday, we will begin our unit on the Periodic Table. Students will explore the Periodic Table and learn how the table is a tool for organizing elements. We will learn how elements are arranged by atomic number and grouped by similar properties. Students will be able to add onto their knowledge of the Periodic Table in 7th grade, when we begin to learn about Atomic Structures.
