Reading, Spelling and Writing: 

Unit 5 Week 4: Nora’s Ark

  • Learn more about themes concerning solutions by analyzing point of view in historical fiction.
  • Develop knowledge about language to make connections between reading and writing.
  • Can use knowledge of the sound and shape of poetry to write a poem.

Math: Chapter 11:

  • Review chapter 10 for test
  • Test Wednesday
  • Explore estimating and measuring liquid volume using metric units of capacity.
  • Use the four operations to solve one-step word problems involving liquid volume.

Religion: Easter

Objectives:

  • Tell the story of Jesus’ Resurrection.
  • Discuss how we are called to spread the Good News.
  • Explain how the Church celebrates the living presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.


Social Studies: Choices in a Free Market

  • Start Free Market Project

Reminders: 

    • Spelling menus will be due every Friday (Choose 3 activities-time given in class to do. Students will finish at home if necessary.)
    • Students are expected to have done 40-45 minutes in each Reading and Math for I-Ready practice lessons every week! They are given plenty of time in class throughout the week, but can finish at home if the goal is not met.
    • Please send your child with a water bottle every day.
  • Please make sure your child’s chrome book is charged every night.

  • We will focus more on Lit Circles and our Poetry Writing Unit this week due to Spring Break absences. 
  • No My View or Spelling!

Math: Chapter 10:

  • Represent fractions on a number line
  • Use models to find equivalent fractions.
  • Express whole numbers as fractions and recognize fractions equivalent to whole numbers.
  • Use models to compare two fractions and record results.

Religion: Holy Week

Objectives:

  • Describe the nature and meaning of Jesus’ sacrifice
  • Explain what the Cross means to us Christians.
  • Pray the Stations of the Cross.

Objectives: 

  • I can learn more about informational texts and analyze the text structure in a procedural text.
  • I can use language to make connections between reading and writing.
  • I can use knowledge of the sounds and shape of poetry to write a poem.

Math: Chapter 10:

  • Test Monday
  • Explore and model unit fractions.
  • Read and write fractions that name part of a whole
  • Use models to represent fractions that name part of a set.
  • Draw a diagram to solve problems.

Religion: Mary is Holy

Objectives:

  • Describe how Mary responded to the shepherd’s news.
  • Identify Mary as the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church.
  • Describe the Rosary as a way of honoring Mary.
  • Discuss the prayer of the Magnificat.
  • Define Annunciation, Communion of Saints, Rosary, and Visitation.


Social Studies: Choices in a Free Market

  • Identify the interests of buyers and sellers in a market with respect to price.
  • Explain the effects of supply and demand on prices.
  • Predict what will happen to prices when supply or demand changes.
  • Analyze reasons for high and low prices of goods and services in the local community.
