5th Grade:

Students will continue learning about a notable and influential Spanish speaker in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. They are exploring who the person is, what they are known for, and the country they are from.

This week, students have also begun working on the second portion of their flipbook, which includes:

6th Grade:

7th Grade: Hispanic Heritage Month Project

Seventh grade students are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by completing a Hispanic Influential Leader Project. Each student has selected a leader and will:

• Create a pennant in Spanish with important facts.
  
  
• Prepare a short slideshow presentation in English (3+ slides) to share with the class.
  
  

Pennants will be displayed outside the Spanish classroom as part of our celebration. Students will use class time to complete their projects.

• 7 Secketa – Thursday, October 2, 2025

8th Grade: Hispanic Heritage Month Project

As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, 8th grade students have each selected a Spanish-speaking country for their report (e.g., Uruguay, Paraguay, El Salvador, Honduras, República Dominicana, etc.).

Each student will:

• Create a banner in Spanish only highlighting their chosen country.
  
  

• Prepare a Google Slides presentation, with each slide written in both Spanish and English.
  
  

• A rubric and full project guidelines will be posted in Google Classroom. Students will have class time this week to work on their projects.

5th Grade:

Last week  students learned “los saludos” (greetings) and how to use them depending on the time of day. Some of the greetings we will practice include: Buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches, ¿Cómo te llamas?, ¿Cómo está usted?, Estoy bien, Hasta luego, Hasta pronto, ¡Chao!, and ¡Adiós!

• Started their practice packets for “Los Saludos” practice packets and started the Benvienidos a la clase de espanol -Spanish Flipbook. This project will take a few weeks to complete. The first section of the flipbook will focus on greetings. 
•  This week students will receive the section of “despedidas”( good-bye’)s and the “preguntas basicas" (basic questions) part of the flipbook.

6th Grade:

Para Empezar – Auténtico 1 (En la escuela).

Students will continue working from the hardcover Auténtico 1 textbook.

5th Grade

Since we had a short first week, we did not get to the “¿Quién soy?” activity. We will continue working on it this week.

•  Students will write “Quien Soy” in Spanish describing 3 things about themselves on a card. Each time we meet, we will review one of the cards. 
• Students will listen to the reading in Spanish and get to pick what student they think the card belongs to.
• This week we will begin to share about their summer by drawing and labeling their pictures with Spanish vocabulary words. This fun activity helps them reconnect with the language while expressing their creativity.
• Please have students turn in the signed Spanish Procedures form that went home last week.

6th -  8th Grades

Since we had a short first week, we did not get to the “¿Quién soy?” activity. We will continue working on it this week.

•  “Quien Soy” Students will write in Spanish describing 3 things about themselves on a card. 
• “Dos verdades y una mentira” - students will write in Spanish two truths and 1 lie about themselves.
• Each time we meet, we will review one of each of the cards; the students will listen to the reading in Spanish and get to pick what student they think the cards belong to.
• Finally we will write about “Que hiciste durante el veran”: Students will begin to write a small phase explaining what they did over the sumer in Spanish and present. This will help students ease back into Spanish after the summer break and rebuild their language skills. This may continue into next week.

5th Grade

• Introductions - go over Spanish curriculum, review procedures and expectations.
• Review safety exists
• Introduction to Google classroom and Conjuguemos
• I begin every morning by asking Que dia es hoy, cuál es la estación (season), y cuál es la fecha (date).

6th -  8th Grade

• Review what you remember about Spanish class last year using four corners.

4th Grade: This week students will review vocabulary words that they learned throughout the year. Vocabulary words will be reviewed using Blooket: Colores y Primavera.

5th Grade:

This week students will review adjectives, adverbs, synonyms, plural words that they learned throughout the year.

6th Grade This week students will begin Capitulo 3A Desayuno o almuerzo

• Students will listen to and read descriptions of meals and menus.
• Talk about foods you and others like and dislike.
• Exchange information about food preferences.

7th Grade: 

Students have begun Capítulo 6A - En mi dormitorio

• Identify the forms of stem-changing verbs: poder and dormir.
• Practice worksheet Page 45-46.

• This week students will take the quiz on Capitulo 2B.
• Pear Practice is available for review on Google classroom.
• Quiz Date: Tuesday 5/20.
• Will begin Capitulo 3A: Desayuno o almuerzo

• Students will start off the week by enjoying popcorn and viewing all of the Spanish project videos in the Koenig Center.

3rd Grade:

 Students will be learning the verb hay to provide information about their school.

Performance Targets

• Students comprehend the questions: “Qué hay en tu escuela?” and “Que no hay en tu escuela?”
• Students answer the questions using the following phrases: “En mi escuela hay___.” and “En mi escuela no hay____.”
• Vocabulary words: los libros, los lapices, los crayones, los escritorios, los maestros, etc..

4th Grade: Students have now learned about items en la cocina.

Vocabulary words: El vaso, el plato, la taza, el tazon, el tenedor, la sarten, la cuchara

• Students will be reviewing vocabulary using Blooket next week.

5th Grade: Students worked very hard on learning about Subject pronouns and their  AR, ER and IR verbs. 

• This week students will be reviewing AR, ER and IR verbs using Blooket.

6th Grade: 

Students will continue with Capitulo 2B  

• Students worked on worksheets using the Estar verb last week. 
• Students were given a worksheet to complete for homework which is listed in Google classroom on plural nouns and articles using the verb Estar.
• Students will continue to identify and describe the location of objects around school.

7th Grade: Students have been given their recipe project for Spanish class.

• Students will utilize class time to create their final draft which is due Friday 5/2/25.
• Students will have class time to create their google slide presentation.

8th Grade:  Will continue with Capítulo 6A En mi dormitorio

• Write about and compare different music.
• Exchange information while comparing opinions with a classmate using “mas que” or “menos que.”
• Will use the superlative: to say that someone or something is the most or least.
• Students will use the definite article el, la, los, las + noun + mas / menos + adjective.

No School - Easter Monday 4/21/25

4th Grade:

• Students will be learning about items en la cocina.
• Vocabulary words: el vaso, el plato, la taza, el tazon, el tenedor, la sarten, la cuchara.

5th Grade: Students have been learning about Subject pronouns, er verbs and ir verbs. This week we will be practicing more ar verbs and the verb estar.

• Verbos de “ar” continue to take off the ar ending from the infinitive.
• Estar “to be” irregular verb worksheet.

6th Grade: Students will continue with Capitulo 2B  

• Students will write and talk about objects in the class
• Students will present objects in class and their location using the key words of al lado de, delante de, debajo de, detras de and encima de.
• Practice using the verb “estar."
• Verb "estar" worksheets pages 77-80

7th Grade:

• No Spanish for 7th grade this week due to Carmel and the Springfield trip.
• Students have been given their Spanish recipe project - Due on Friday May 16, 2025.

8th Grade: 

• Will begin Capítulo 6A En mi dormitorio
• Students will listen to and read descriptions of bedrooms and colors.
• Talk and write about their room
• Identify cultural practices in an authentic video about homes and home decor.
