Peek of the Week for September 21st- September 25th


No School Friday, September 25th 


Religion-  We will continue to talk about families in Religion. God is my Family. As we have brought in our family pictures we are going to talk to everyone about family and how we each have a family. Talk about who is in our family and who is in Jesus’s family. Making a cross for art.


Language/Literacy- Heggerty Phonics Week 5:  Lesson Overview: Weeks 1-6;  Students will gain an understanding of rhyme by hearing and repeating rhyming words.  Students will isolate the initial sound in spoken words with focused consonant sounds.  Students will learn to blend two works into a compound word.  Students will isolate the final sound they hear in a spoken word with focused consonant sounds.  Students will learn to segment a compound word into two individual words. Alphabet KNowledge:  identify  uppercase letters.  Listening Comprehension:  expand word knowledge.  Oral Language:  understand the meanings of words.  Concept of Print:  Engage in pre reading and reading-related behaviors.  Comprehension:  respond appropriately, answer questions about a book, draw conclusions. Focus letter of the week: Dd. Learning new words that start with the letter D.


Math- Continue counting. Working on sorting shapes as we bring out circles, squares, and triangles for them to do different things with. Continue to show the graphing of numbers and pairing. Working on our shapes especially circles and how that is half of the letter D. 


Science-  Dinosaur Experiment. The children will be able to use scientific tools; tweezers, googles, magnifying glasses, and little pretend hammers to explore dinosaur eggs. We will try to open the egg with our tools and will there be a dinosaur in it.  


Social Studies- Scholastic- My BIG World Clifford- September 


Afternoon Enrichment- 


Monday-  Learning about where dinosaurs lived. 


Tuesday- “Our World and Beyond” We will learn about different things that start with the letter D. We will read the book How to Catch a Dinosaur.


Wednesday- We continue to explore counting. Working on number 4 and how many things we can find around the room that are four of something.  


Thursday- Bushel of Books- We will read How do Dinosaurs Stay Friends


Steam- with dinosaur eggs in water. Will a dinosaur fizz out?
