Hello middle school families!  My name is Gina Annunzio and I am so excited to start my first year as the middle school math teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School.  For the previous seven years, I was blessed to be a middle school math teacher (in addition to Religion) at Our Lady of Humility in Beach Park, IL.  While at OLH, I also was the 8th grade homeroom teacher, which included planning 8th grade graduation activities and Confirmation readiness. I was a high school math teacher for seven years after graduating from Elmhurst College. I earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. I taught part-time as a preschool teacher for three and a half years at Camp Crayon Preschool in Antioch when my children were in middle school and high school.

I have been married to a wonderful man for 30 years and have three amazing children. I like to go for walks, read, and listen to a Catholic app, called Hallow. I am so thrilled to join the St. Joseph School family.

About our math program:

We offer a very challenging math program at St. Joseph Catholic School.  All of our middle school students complete Glencoe Math's Course 1 (6th grade) and Course 2 (7th grade), and either Course 3 (8th grade) or Algebra 1.

Each day students receive direct instruction, have opportunities to develop understanding in small groups, and work independently to master skills.  Homework will be given most days to help reinforce the skills learned in class.

All of our students leave St. Joseph Catholic School with a solid foundation in mathematics and are ready for the challenges of high school math.

Week at a Glance (12/1 - 12/5)

Welcome back and I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Reminder: every student should be completing and passing one i-Ready lesson a week. If a student has difficulty with a lesson and goes past 40 minutes, without completing the lesson, I will count it as completed for the week. If a student does not complete i-Ready for the week, the grade is a 0, no exceptions. Students may have Growth Monitoring to complete and this has to be completed before moving back to their i-Ready path. It will count as a completed lesson for the week.

I update grades on the weekend, this includes new assignments, late/missing assignments, and tests/quizzes taken during the week. I might miss something, so please have your student ask me about their grade.
