Week at a Glance: March 31st- April 2nd, 2026


Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will begin their unit on weather. In this unit, we will learn about the atmosphere, what affects weather patterns, clouds, and what causes tornadoes. 

We will begin our unit by learning about Earth’s Atmosphere and Air Pressure. In this lesson, students will be able to identify the four main layers and describe their characteristics. They will also be able to to identify some properties of air.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will learn about Currents and Climates. In this lesson, students will learn how surface currents affect climate. We will learn about the differences between El Nino and La Nina. This unit will lead us into our Weather Unit when we return from Spring Break.

Sixth Grade Science: This week, Sixth Grade Students will learn about Exploring the Ocean. In this lesson, students will study characteristics of the ocean and ocean water. Students will also be able to connect their previous knowledge of Tectonic Plates as we explore Mid Ocean Ridges, Continental Slope and Continental Shelf. 


On Wednesday, we will have a quiz on our Water on Earth and Water Underground chapters.

In this lesson, we will learn about the geological formation of ponds and lakes. We will also learn how mountain divides dictate how a river system is directed. Students will also learn how nutrient build up in lakes form eutrophication.

Students will explore the Periodic Table and learn how the table is a tool for organizing elements. We will learn how elements are arranged by atomic number and grouped by similar properties. Students will be able to add onto their knowledge of the Periodic Table in 7th grade, when we begin to learn about Atomic Structures.
