Lifecycle of a Butterfly πŸ¦‹ No longer caterpillars, our beautiful butterflies emerged from their chrysalis today! Preschoolers couldn’t wait to fly them home! The children did an amazing job of recalling facts they learned about caterpillars this week! They could write a book with all these facts!
πŸ› They have small eyes
πŸ› They make a chrysalis
πŸ› They come from an egg
πŸ› They eat their egg
πŸ› They eat leaves
πŸ› They make glue to make their chrysalis stick to a stem
πŸ› They have 16 legs
πŸ› They turn into butterflies
πŸ› They can be lots of different colors
πŸ› The mommy lays the egg on a keaf
πŸ› Butterflies have big eyes
Prayer Buddy Get-together! This week our Buddies wrote thoughtful letters to their preschoolers! Preschoolers enjoyed creating cards to give to their Buddies today that included illustrations of them together! We will see them next Tuesday, the 20th, for Buddy Mass and meet again that last week of school!

Ever wonder who Old MacDonald was before he got his farm? The Man Who Didn’t Like Animals, by Deborah Underwood, gives us the backstory! We then had fun singing along to β€œOld MacDonald”, and creating our own farm yard animals with Doodle Buddy!
Such a fun circle time today! We repeated several familiar rhymes and introduced a new one! These help build auditory recognition, memory and concentration, and lots of phonological awareness skills our preschoolers will practice during their Heggerty lessons next year in PreK4’s!
Music with Mr. Showstead 🎢
Vibration of Sound! We had fun taking turns touching a vibrating tuning fork to FEEL sound! Preschoolers said it felt like a buzzing or tickling on their fingers!
Look at these preschoolers GROW! 🌸  Our Write the Room this week is a great example of how to differentiate instruction for our young learners! While the learning goal is the same for each student, we varied instruction depending on each ones strengths! Our goal is to help them successfully complete this activity!
Today’s β€œCreepy Crawly Caterpillars β€œ topic from Scholastic’s My BIG World was the perfect fit! We discovered the first thing a caterpillar eats is his egg! The children were amazed that a caterpillar with 16 legs and 2 small eyes emerges from their chrysalis as a butterfly with 6 legs, 2 large eyes, 2 antennas, wings, and a long tongue! They discovered the BIG word for this is metamorphosis and enjoyed clapping out all 5 syllables together! πŸ› πŸƒ
This week has been all about caterpillars! πŸ› We made our very own caterpillars, and read Clara the Caterpillar! A super one for teaching us about alliteration (several words together that you hear the same sound!). Preschoolers β€œspun” a chrysalis for their caterpillars and found a safe, quiet place in the room for their metamorphosis (our BIG word of the week!)  πŸ¦‹
Understanding science through hands on experiences!
Preschool+Plus Shark Week! 🦈
Our investigation under the sea has us learning about sharks this week! We discovered that much information is gathered about these underwater predators by scientists and scuba divers who get up close in a shark cage! They were fascinated by this! Preschoolers began working on their own Great White Shark, which we learned can have 4,000 teeth!
Shark Week Write the Room πŸ¦€ 🐳 🦈 🐠
Super job practicing writing letters to form words! The picture cues aid us in the correct left to right progression!
Shark Week Tables this week feature non-standard measuring (super practice writing numbers 1-10!), adding 2 numbered dice together, and write the room! πŸ™ 🐠 πŸ¦€ 🦈 🐳
