Field Trip forms for the Civil War Museum in Kenosha have been sent home. The forms are due back by May 17th with a payment of $17 either via cash or check made out to St. Joseph Catholic School. Thank you very much!

Math - None (We continued our iReady Spring diagnostic today in Math. We are going nice and slow.)

Science - None - Schiff only (We took our open book Chapter 5 test today with helpful hints from me on where answers were located. I told them the page numbers, but they had to find them. Miss Bubis's classroom took this test yesterday.)

Social Studies - None, but D.O.G. was passed out and due by Friday (Yesterday, we decided last minute to continue working on iReady Math during Social Studies, so today we read  chapters 7 & 8 in our Escape By Night book. Some questions to ask:  Why does Tommy need to get rid of Annie?...Tommy didn't want Annie to spill the secret about the soldier.  What did Red dream about?...He dreamt about crossing a bridge and that bridge might be a bridge to freedom, but his dream ended before he knew if he got to cross the bridge.  Prediction: What do you think Tommy is going to do about Red?...talk this out and anything reasonable will do for an answer)

Upcoming events:

~  Field Trip on May 22nd to the Civil War Museum in Kenosha. This will be a great experience for the students to see artifacts and listen to real life soldier stories as we finish the unit on the Civil War at that time. Field Trip form to come home in May. So excited for this opportunity of enrichment.

~ After much research on my end, I have decided to end this year in Science with a bit of Biology. I surprised the students and told them that we will be dissecting a crayfish on May 24th and an earthworm on May 15th. I would say 99% of them were so excited about this. A couple were not thrilled with the idea. Please know that this will not be graded, nor would I make any student do something they do not want to do or feel comfortable doing. This is strictly for fun and is totally optional. If they choose to not participate, they can come to the Science lab with us and read a book in the hallway. I'm very excited about this opportunity for the students.
