Field Trip is tomorrow to the Kenosha Public Museum. Students should wear their Gym school uniform and comfortable shoes to school. Please send a lunch to school with your child on this day too, as we will eat once we get back. There is NO hot lunch served tomorrow!

Please send in your free vote every 24hrs for me if you can...I'd greatly appreciate it. I am so humbled to have made it so far already. It started two months ago with tens of thousands of contestants and now I'm in the top 5. It's amazing.

Math - None (Today we focused on converting kilogram to grams...1kg = 1000 grams, 2kg = 2000 grams, etc...  This lesson was very easy and everyone got the concept very quickly. Very proud of them.)

Science - None (Today we took our lesson 6 weekly quiz and we are allowed to use our textbooks for the quiz. After that, we continued working on our Wonders project in the program called Canva. I have a fun surprise for all parents for when the students are all done with their projects sometime next week. They truly are having fun using Canva.)

Social Studies - None, but the weekly D.O.G. (Daily Oral Geography) was passed out on Monday and is due by Friday.  (Today we chapters 3 & 4 in our Escape By Night book. Some questions to ask:  Who is the one-armed soldier?...The one-armed soldiers name was, Redmond Porter or Red for short.  What is a commonplace book?...It is book that you can write anything in, like a diary or journal.  What is Big Steve?...Big Steve is the fire bell that rings at noon daily to remind them all to pray.)

Upcoming events:

~ Field Trip on May 2nd to Kenosha Public Museum to learn about Native American tribes that lived in Wisconsin and also dissecting Owl Pellets. It's mixture of Science and Social Studies. We also have another Field Trip on May 22nd to the Civil War Museum in Kenosha. This will be a great experience for the students to see artifacts and listen to real life soldier stories as we finish the unit on the Civil War at that time. More info to come for chaperoning by our Room Parent's. Field Trip forms to come home in April. So excited for these opportunities of enrichment.

~ After much research on my end, I have decided to end this year in Science with a bit of Biology. I surprised the students and told them that we will be dissecting a crayfish on May 24th and an earthworm on May 15th. I would say 99% of them were so excited about this. A couple were not thrilled with the idea. Please know that this will not be graded, nor would I make any student do something they do not want to do or feel comfortable doing. This is strictly for fun and is totally optional. If they choose to not participate, they can come to the Science lab with us and read a book in the hallway. I'm very excited about this opportunity for the students.
