Reminders:
-4th grade has been asked to donate Progresso soups for the food pantry collection on Thursday, March 14th.

-Our school will be attending the stations of the cross on Thursday at 12:30.

-Drop in Math Mini Boot Camp: Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15.  2:00-3:00.  $30. (Adding and Subtracting Mixed Numbers.)
 
Math: Chapter 9 takes us into adding and subtracting mixed numbers.  
Monday:Review

Wednesday: 9-6
Thursday: 9-7 and Review
Friday: Quiz CH9 L5-7
9-6 Objective:  Students will learn to add mixed numbers with like denominators
9-7 Objective: Students will learn to subtract mixed numbers with like denominators.  

Reading: This week we finally get to DRAMA!  One of my favorite genres ever! We begin U4W3 with a lesson on elements of drama.
Students will be placed into two groups and given a role in the play "La Culebra (The Snake) from Multicultural Plays for Children," written by Pamela Gerke.  Each group will then act out the play.  

U4W3 Objectives
• Explain structure in drama.
• Make connections between the text of a story or drama and a visual or oral presentation of the text, identifying where each version reflects specific descriptions and directions in the text.
• Explain the author’s purpose and message within a text.
• Provide reasons that are supported by facts and details.

Language Arts:
Grammar: Pronouns and Antecedents
Language and Conventions: Adverbs
Word Study: Syllable Pattern VV

Spelling: We will learn to spell words with a VV syllable pattern.
As always the spelling notebook is due on Friday.  Below is a chart of the spelling homework for this week.

Friday:  Spelling notebook due and U4W3 test.
 
U4W3 Spelling Objective:
• Demonstrate and apply phonetic knowledge by decoding words using advanced knowledge of syllable division patterns.

Science: We will continue to watch the movie Wall-E.  Students are LOVING our environmental studies!
 
Objectives:
To inspire students to recognize the importance of environmental stewardship by analyzing themes of sustainability and resource management portrayed in the film, and to empower them to take actionable steps towards preserving and protecting the planet for future generations through interactive discussions and activities.

Religion: This week we will finish out Lenten journals, discuss what Jesus means to the students and create abstract art with the image of Jesus.
