Week at a Glance:  May 8 - May 12

 

6th Grade Science:  Storms

  • Students will develop and use models to identify the main kinds of storms and explain how they form.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to describe measures that can be taken to ensure safety in a storm.

We will be learning about different types of storms, how they are formed, and storm safety. Students will complete a lab on Thursday or Friday. There will be a quiz on this lesson on Tuesday, May 16th. 

 

7th Grade Science: Cell Division


Schedule Notes:

  • There are no block schedules this week.
  • Tuesday: Gold has science before lunch. Black has science after lunch.
  • Friday: Gold has science at 9:23 and Black will have science at 10:45

 

Cell Division

  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain the functions of cell division.
  • Students will develop and use models to explain the events that take place during the stages of mitosis.

We will be learning more about cell division. Students will review concepts covered in this lesson and complete a lab. There will be a Chapter 3, Lesson 3: Cell Division quiz on Friday, May 12th. Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes and resources available on Google Classroom.


8th Grade Science: Egg Drop Challenge

  • There are no block schedules this week.
  • Tuesday: Gold has science first period. Black has science after Mass.

Newton’s Laws of Motion & the Egg Drop Challenge

  • Students will continue to develop an understanding of forces and Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
  • Students will begin to work in teams to plan out their design of an economical vessel to protect their egg.
