Week at a Glance:  May 1 - May 5

6th Grade Science:  Fossil Fuels

  • Students will gather and synthesize information about the three major fossil fuels.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain why fossil fuels are considered nonrenewable resources.

We will learn more about Natural Resource Distribution on Monday, May 1st. We will review for our quiz on Tuesday, May 2nd. There will be a Chapter 6 Lesson 1: Fossil Fuels quiz on Wednesday, May 3rd.

7th Grade Science: Cellular Respiration & Cell Division

Schedule Notes:

  • No block schedules this week.

Cellular Respiration

  • Students will develop and use models to explain the events that occur during respiration.
  • Students will gather and synthesize information to explain what happens during fermentation.

There will be a Chapter 3 Lesson 2: Cellular Respiration quiz on Monday, May 1st.  Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes and resources available on Google Classroom.

Cell Division

  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain the functions of cell division.
  • Students will develop and use models to explain the events that take place during the stages of mitosis.

8th Grade Science:

Schedule Notes:

  • Monday-Wednesday: All students will have math and science.
  • Thursday: Black will have Science and Gold will have Math.
  • Friday: Black will have Math and Gold will have Science.

Newton’s Laws of Motion & the Egg Drop Challenge

  • Students will develop an understanding of forces and Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
  • Students will begin to work in teams to design an economical vessel to protect their egg.
