Week at a Glance: April 24 - April 28

6th Grade Science:  Fossil Fuels

  • Students will gather and synthesize information about the three major fossil fuels.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain why fossil fuels are considered nonrenewable resources.

We will conduct a lab on Thursday, April 27th. Students will review key concepts and prepare for their quiz on Friday, April 28th and Monday, May 1st. There will be a Chapter 6 Lesson 1: Fossil Fuels quiz on Tuesday, May 2nd.

7th Grade Science: 

Schedule Notes:

  • Monday:  Black will have science and Gold will have math.
  • Tuesday:  All students will have math and science - 7 Black has math the longer period before lunch.
  • Wednesday:  Black will have math and Gold will have science.
  • There will be no blocks on Thursday and Friday.

7 Black:  Cellular Respiration

  • Students will develop and use models to explain the events that occur during respiration.
  • Students will gather and synthesize information to explain what happens during fermentation.

We will conduct a lab on Monday, April 24th. There will be a Chapter 3 Lesson 2: Cellular Respiration quiz on Thursday, April 27th.  Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes.

7 Gold:  Cellular Respiration

  • Students will develop and use models to explain the events that occur during respiration.
  • Students will gather and synthesize information to explain what happens during fermentation.

We will conduct a lab on Wednesday, April 26th. There will be a Chapter 3 Lesson 2: Cellular Respiration quiz on Thursday, April 27th.  Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes.

8th Grade Science:

Schedule Notes:

  • Monday:  Black will have science and Gold will have math.
  • Tuesday:  All students will have math and science - 8 Black has math first period/8 Gold has science.
  • Wednesday:  Black will have math and Gold will have science.
  • There will be no blocks on Thursday and Friday.

8 Black:  Covalent Bonds

  • Students will develop and use models to describe how atoms are held together in a covalent bond.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to identify properties of molecular compounds.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain how bonded atoms become partially charged.

We will conduct a lab on Monday, April 24th. There will be a Chapter 3 Lesson 3: Covalent Bonds quiz on Thursday, April 27th.  Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes.

8 Gold:  Covalent Bonds

  • Students will develop and use models to describe how atoms are held together in a covalent bond.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to identify properties of molecular compounds.
  • Students will apply scientific principles to explain how bonded atoms become partially charged.

We will conduct a lab on Wednesday, April 26th. There will be a Chapter 3 Lesson 3: Covalent Bonds quiz on Thursday, April 27th or Friday, April 28th (day dependent on when Math quiz will be).  Please encourage students to thoroughly review all notes.
