PreK 3

Religion -  Unit 5 - God Made Me Special: I Can Grow. The children will explain that growth is part of God the Father’s plan. They will tell ways in which they are growing. Preschoolers will explain they need to eat, sleep, and exercise in order to grow. They will try to identify themselves and others as babies through photographs.

Social Studies - Expanding awareness of the world around us: feelings & emotions.

Science - “Do ducks need umbrellas?” Preschoolers will use the scientific method to investigate what happens to a duck’s feathers when it rains. Our new feathered resident who is nesting her eggs at our school has brought on lots of conversations and questions about ducks! How does she stay warm in this cold, wet, weather? Doesn’t she get wet in the rain?  What keeps her dry when she spends so much time in the water? The children will make connections with our duck and the adaptations that help her stay dry in the rain!

Language/Literacy - Expressive language: using language to communicate with our friends. Fine motor: developing hand strength & dexterity with pre-writing skills.  Writing our names. Using correct pincer grip. Letter Focus of the Week: Tt. Home/School connection: bring an item from school that begins with ‘T’.

Math  - One to one correspondence. Counting to 10. Sorting/categorizing. Color/Shape Bingo: naming shapes, matching uring 2 attributes. 


Specials - Media with Mrs. Hoglund and Music with Mr. Showstead 

PreK 4

Religion - Unit 4. God Made Living Things: God Made Trees. The children will express an understanding that God the Father made trees. They will describe the many uses of trees, and express appreciation for the trees.  Prayer Buddy Get Together.  Preschoolers will get together to carry out a service project that will benefit their community.

Literacy Language - Alphabet knowledge: produce letter sound, recognize letter names. Print awareness. Oral language. Writing: independently using upper/lowercase letters to make words. Letter Focus of the Week: Letter Tt.. Bring an item to school that begins with T.

Heggerty- Lesson Overview: Weeks 19-27

  • Students will recognize and produce words that rhyme
  • Students will hear words that begin with the same sound and generate words that begin with a specific sound.
  • Students will learn to blend two phonemes into a spoken word
  • Students will continue to practice phoneme isolation with the final and medial phonemes in spoken words.
  • Students will learn to segment a spoken work into two phonemes.
  • Students will manipulate the initial phoneme in a spoken work with adding and deleting activities
  • A new skill will be introduced: Students will learn to substitute the initial phoneme in spoken word.

Math - Number & operations: Count up to 10 and demonstrate that items can be chosen in any order, make/take apart 8 and 9. Making/breaking smaller sets of 8 and 9..Number & Operations: counting up to 10 items, last number counting represents how many in a set. Recognizing, counting, sequencing numbers 1 - 20. Ordering by size. Learning geometric shapes, shape attributes. Patterns: making and creating patterns AB, AAB, ABB, ABC.  

Teddy Bear Tea - On Wednesday, April 10, the children will buddy-up with their Bears in a variety of activities that include math, literacy, art, fine motor, and language skills. 

Specials - Media with Mrs. Hoglund. Music with Mr. Showstead.  

Preschool+Plus - Out of this World Travelers! - “To infinity and beyond!” Preschoolers will have an out-of-this-world, month long study of Outer Space!  This intergalactic unit will introduce the children to concepts and features of space, including aspects of an astronaut's job!  They will begin awareness of the Earth, Sun, and Planets, and learn facts that are unique to each. Preschoolers will be introduced to new vocabulary such as rotation, orbit, and axis. This week’s focus has us learning about the Moon and Stars!
