Welcome to Preschool at St. Joseph Catholic School!

I am so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher this year!

This is my sixth year at St. Joseph Catholic School and I am looking

forward to helping your child grow, and learn,

and have fun this year.

I have been a preschool teacher in Libertyville for over 25 years,

and am passionate about helping young children learn.

I believe children learn best with hands-on experiences and

help facilitate their many different learning styles

in a kind and nurturing setting.

We will have an amazing year together meeting new friends, sharing new

discoveries, and learning new skills everyday.

Our instructional aide, Mrs. Tina Truskowski, has much experience in the classroom

after being a aide at St. Joseph Catholic School for over 15 years!

Together, we help build positive relationships with children to help foster

growth and confidence in a caring classroom community.

We are both looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.

Grinch Day 2022💚 Preschoolers enjoyed creating their own Grinch today! “What if Christmas doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas perhaps means a little bit more!”
Grinch Science: “Can you melt the Grinch’s heart?” Using hands on experiences, preschoolers experimented by adding salt to our frozen Grinch heart! ❤️❤️❤️
Our patience and perseverance paid off! We were able to melt the Grinch’s heart! Through trial and error preschoolers developed an understanding of how the salt affected the ice! Acting as a catalyst, it actually sped up the melting process! ❄️
Love, Love this special read by Dr. Seuss! The rhyming text, fun characters, and heartwarming story make it a super read aloud!
We made Grinch Dust to make sure the Grinch doesn’t try to steal our Christmas! 💚 Preschoolers mixed joy (yellow food coloring) a little love (blue food coloring), and a pinch of happiness in a bag of sugar. They enjoyed discovering that these different colors mix to form another color, GREEN! 💚
Table Time: Fine Motor Play
Manipulating objects by squeezing, pinching, and crumbling is awesome for fine motor development! It works the small muscles of the hand and really strengthens the arches of the hand! Selecting individual squares promotes that important tripod grip, too! Preschoolers created colorful ornaments with tissue paper today!
Happy Birthday, Harper! Preschoolers enjoyed listening to Mrs.Stephens read, The Not  Very Merry Pout-Pout Fish! We loved helping celebrate Harper’s 4th birthday today!
Table Time Math Center: Christmas Pattern Stamping🌲❄️🎅🦌⭐️
Preschoolers created and extended AB, AAB, and even ABC patterns!
Table Time: Fine Motor Play🎄 Dot-to-dot is a great way to practice counting, hand-eye coordination, and handwriting skills! Roll-a-line Ornament Game is a fun way to practice lines, curves, pencil grip, and left to write progression!
Run, run as fast as you can! Run to you (letter sound) house as fast as you can!
Preschoolers worked together to sequence letters of gingerbread houses. They then identified beginning letter sounds of the picture on their gingerbread man, and matched them to the correct letter house! Super source of alphabetic skills here!
Gingerbread Man Write the Room! Preschoolers searched the room for gingerbread men with both upper and lowercase letters on them. Their job was to record the letters they found! This activity gave us real experience forming and writing letters! A super skill!
