Week at a Glance January 23 – January 27, 2017

Religion Objectives:  

Seeds – Jesus makes friends.  The children will identify ways to help out at home, recognize that Jesus chose special friends to help with his work and celebrate being friends and followers of Jesus.

God Made Living Things - God Made Flowers.  The children will know that God made a variety of flowers, realize that creation demonstrates God’s goodness and wisdom.  The children will also appreciate God’s gift of flowers.  

Literacy Objectives: 

Unit 4 – Week 3 – In the Barnyard – Why do farmers have animals?  Learn new concept words: cow, egg, hen, milk, pig, and sheep.  Learn amazing words: deal, electric, impatient, exchange and furious.  Listen to beginning sounds, letter names and sounds, disappearing letters, match uppercase and lowercase letters. Recalling story details. Our featured story is Click, Clack, Moo – Cows That Type

Social Studies Objectives: 

Demonstrate that all people need food and shelter. Recognizing the information is accessible through technology. Discuss fairness. 

Science Objectives: 

Identify and describe the characteristics of organisms and identify properties of common objects. 

My Big World with Clifford - Where does snow come from?  Learning how thermometers reflect the temperature. 

Fluffy, squishy (with a secret ingredient) slime! 

Math Objectives: 

Telling how many, comparing groups of farm animals, more vs. fewer, and let’s make 5.

Afternoon Enrichment: 

Audrey Wood author study: Alphabet Mystery scavenger hunt, Silly Sally the Little Knights way, and story retelling with the Napping House.
