Media Center

Welcome to the St. Joseph Media Center! The library is automated with the Alexandria information management system and possesses a continually expanding collection of books and materials to support student learning.

Alexandria, our electronic card catalog for the St. Joseph Media Center has been updated!  Now Alexandria is completely web-based and can be accessed online anywhere at school or at home, 24/7!  Give it a try! Middle school students and staff may also place holds on books that they would like delivered to their classrooms. Students have the link to the Alexandria Researcher in both Clever and their Google Classrooms.

The library is supported by the profits from the annual Book Fair held during Catholic Schools Week in January.  The Media Center is operated by an incredible group of volunteer parents and former teachers known as the Media Mavens who tirelessly devote themselves aiding the students in the Media Center.

Looking for a book and it is not in the St. Joseph collection!  No worries, just click on the link below to access a Google form that will allow you to request a book to be added to the collection!

Introduction

Greetings! My name is Valerye Hoglund and I have been at St. Joseph Catholic School since October of 2000. I began at St. Joe as the Computer Teacher for grades K-8 and in 2007 gleefully added the Library to my position as the Media Specialist for grades PreK 3 - 8.

In the Media Center, students in grades 2-5 will learn Keyboarding, Internet Safety, Online Research Skills and all things Google! (Docs, Slides, Sheets and more!)

Grades PreK 3 - 8 will be exposed to a wide variety of genres of literature, authors, illustrators and both print and online research options.

Credentials

I have a BA in Elementary Education from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and am always taking classes/workshops to keep up with the constantly updating world of literature and technology!
