Math - pgs 829 & 830 (optional: IXL lesson XST...look it up by clicking the search button, typing XST, and then selecting the 5th-grade lesson). (Today we worked on weights...mainly pounds and ounces. We converted pounds into ounces and compared weights to see what is greater than, less than, or equal to. We focused on knowing that 1 pound = 16 ounces for our conversion. We added that 1 ton = 2000 pounds, too. It will take time to truly comprehend this lesson, but we will get it. Please continue practicing multiplication flashcards at home, as we will do a lot of multiplication and division in the next few weeks.)
Science - None - Bubis Only (Today, we read what erosion and deposition is. Questions to ask: What is the main force causing erosion?... Gravity is the leading force causing erosion. How do rock particles get moved from place to place?... They are moved by water, wind, and ice. What is the primary cause of erosion along coastlines?... Waves are the primary cause of erosion along coastlines. My class will do this tomorrow.)
Social Studies- Escape By Night Chapters 1 & 2 - D.O.G. was passed out on Monday and is due by Friday (Today, I passed out a new book for us to read called Escape by Night (a Civil War Adventure). We read chapters 1 & 2 and are very much enjoying it. Questions to ask... Where do Tommy's and Anna's dads work, and what is their job? He was a pastor in a Presbyterian Church and worked at a hospital. Why is Annie upset with Samson?... Samson was the family dog that always wanted to be with Tommy and never slept or went near Annie. Prediction making....Now that Tommy has found the soldier the book belongs to, what do you predict will happen in Chapter 3?... Any reasonable prediction will do)
