Count the Room Polar Express had the children practice counting skills, one-to-one correspondence and number formation.
During centers, the children worked so hard!   Christmas tree names had the children focus on the cutting skills with jagged lines, a fine motor and eye/hand coordination exercise.  Our sensory table had a winter Polar Express scene.  The children also challenged their memory and turn taking skills with our Christmas memory game.
Happy Birthday Sofia!   Thank you Mrs. Villegas for coming in today to read Sofia’s favorite story, Good Night Unicorn: A Magical Parody by Pearl Horne.
We had a wonderful discussion about healthy and non-healthy foods. Healthy foods make us strong and grow. Non-healthy foods are yummy but need to be eaten in moderation.
The children love using Ms. Nash’s silly scissors to cut Christmas tracing paper.  It was fun and challenging to cut wavy lines using scissors that make designs .
Our candy canes grew!   We were so excited to see them and to be able to take them home today!

Our Little Knights continued their travel in Italy! We learned about the Old Befana who comes to the children on the Epiphany. We will read La Befana: An Italian Night After Christmas by Sunday Frey-Blanchard and watch the video version of Tomie DePaola’s version The Legend of the Old Befana. We discussed the similiarities and differences La Befana has with ur Santa Claus. The children made an Old Befana so they can share this legend with their families. We also enjoyed a Christmas treat from Italy, Panettone and bubbly Pellegrino! So yummy!
